The story of J.P. Cooke Co. is really a story of the marking industry, Shachihata and the Cooke family. First founded in 1887 by James Cooke, the Cooke Time Stamp Co. soon grew to become the J.P. Cooke Co. James Cooke was instrumental in the creation of the Marking Device Association and became its 2nd president. Now, 108 years later, his great grandson, Jim Cooke is currently the President of IMIA. Lawrence Cooke, 2nd generation, worked with the Shachihata family on their expansion into the US market during the 1970’s. John & Warren Cooke, 3rd generation, have been with the company since the 1970’s. 4th generation Jim, David and Julie Cooke have helped with the growth of the company, developing expanded product lines, ecommerce and internal management. Cooke represents Xstamper in many different market channels.
J.P. Cooke is an original manufacturing partner with Shachihata and is celebrating their 46th year of continued partnership and friendship. They worked in the 1970’s to help develop the Xstamper Time Stamp and Rotary Dater.
President John Cooke states “I’ve enjoyed seeing the growth of products with Xstamper these 46 years. Most rewarding has been the relationships with 3 generations of the Funahashi family and 3 generations of the Cooke family. It’s been more than a business relationship…it’s a personal friendship.”
